Trusted Dog and Cat Rescue That Keeps Families Together

Start by telling us about your household, your schedule, and the kind of dog or cat that would fit it. We match animals to homes rather than run a queue, so the conversation comes first and the paperwork follows. If nothing suits right now we will say so, and let you know when something changes.

Ask about adopting

The dog or cat goes somewhere safe first, then gets assessed for health, temperament and what kind of home will suit. Temporary care carries it through that stage. Only after that do we look for a placement, and we would rather an animal wait a little longer than land somewhere it will not stay.

We take in surrendered dogs and cats when we have the capacity to look after them properly, which changes month to month. Before you surrender, ask whether support would let you keep the animal instead, because that is usually the better outcome for everyone. If it truly is not workable, tell us and we will be straight with you about what we can do.

That is a large part of what this project exists to do. Our pet food pantry gives donated dog and cat food to owners in hardship, because no family should have to choose between putting food on the table and feeding their beloved pets. All pickups are arranged by appointment. Ask about current food availability early, while there are still options.

The pantry is a community assistance program of Heal the World Initiative Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and part of our mission to support animals and the people who care for them. Keeping pets with the families who love them is one of the best ways to help animals in need. The pantry runs through a network of volunteers and community supporters, with assistance in participating service areas as supplies permit.

Help us fill their bowls with unopened dog food, cat food, and other essential pet supplies, which can go in our donation bin at Tractor Supply Co. The pantry relies on individuals, businesses, and community partners, and every donation helps us reach more families, because no pet should go hungry and no family should have to say goodbye simply because they cannot afford pet food.

Fostering is the single most useful thing, because temporary care is the bottleneck between rescue and placement. Beyond that, pet food and supplies get used immediately, and money covers the veterinary care that arrives without warning. Our other ways to give page sets out the full range.

Tranz Legal opens up affordable routes to changing a name or a gender marker on official records, and Evolve ULC is a faith community led by and affirming of LGBTQ+ people. Charitable projects run by other people can apply to our fiscal sponsorship program.
