What Fiscal Sponsorship Provides

Deductible Contributions

Supporters give to Heal the World Initiative for your project, tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Donation Acknowledgments

Qualifying charitable contributions are acknowledged in writing, so your supporters have what they need at tax time.

Fund Administration

We receive contributions designated to your project and administer them under donor restrictions, grant requirements, and your agreement.

Recordkeeping and Oversight

Financial recordkeeping, fiscal and compliance oversight, and the reporting a charitable project is expected to produce.

Grant Eligibility

Projects can pursue qualifying grant opportunities that are open to fiscally sponsored projects rather than only to standalone nonprofits.

Established Nonprofit Standing

Association with an established 501(c)(3) organization, which is often what a funder is looking for before a first grant.

How Sponsorship Actually Works

Sponsorship is a relationship, not the rental of our status. We keep legal control over charitable funds, and they go only to approved charitable purposes.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is a formal relationship between an established 501(c)(3) and a charitable project. Under our Model C structure we may receive charitable contributions designated to support an approved project, then make grants from those funds for the project's approved charitable activities. The project stays independently operated and responsible for its own work.

New charitable projects not ready to form their own nonprofit, grassroots community programs, animal welfare and rescue initiatives, equality and community support projects, youth and mentorship programs, re-entry and community assistance programs, short-term projects, and organizations working toward their own 501(c)(3) recognition. Each one is reviewed and must be approved before it participates.

Sponsorship does not create an attorney-client, employment, partnership, joint venture, or agency relationship unless a separate written agreement expressly says so. It also does not create a separate nonprofit or give a project its own tax-exempt status. Charitable funds we receive remain subject to our legal responsibility, oversight, discretion, and control. Sponsored projects stay responsible for obtaining their own legal, tax, insurance, licensing and professional advice.

Yes, and the whole schedule is published above rather than quoted case by case. A $120 annual sponsorship fee is due on acceptance, and 10% is retained from money raised for your project to cover the work of administering it. Government grants and other funding that needs substantial oversight may carry up to 15%, disclosed and agreed before the funding is accepted.

Keep appropriate records, use funds only for approved charitable purposes, follow applicable law, and provide the financial and program information we ask for. We reserve the right to decline expenditures, withhold or restrict grants, require further documentation, or end a sponsorship where that is necessary to protect charitable assets. Supporters can also help through our giving options.

No. A project must have a genuine charitable purpose consistent with our mission and tax-exempt purposes, and every application is reviewed before a project is accepted. We may ask for further information, documentation, budgets, or project plans as part of that review. Approval also does not guarantee donations, grants, or other funding.

Submit a fiscal sponsorship application telling us about the project, its leadership, mission, activities, anticipated budget, and fundraising plans. We review whether the activities are charitable and consistent with our exempt purposes. Approved applicants then receive a written Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement setting out the responsibilities on both sides, and fundraising begins once sponsorship is active.

Three, and they are the reason this program exists at all. Piper's Fund works on animal welfare, from intake through placement and owner support, Tranz Legal deals with identity documents, and Evolve ULC is an LGBTQ+ affirming faith community. Running them taught us what a young charitable project actually needs underneath it.
